Burudzhieva: Assen Vassilev is a "strong-arm" leader, he does not tolerate other leaders around him - 1

A key leadership meeting between the leaderships of the partners in the PP-DB coalition will be held today due to the serious internal tension that has arisen.

The friction between PP and DB has been going on for a long time, and the reasons are more than justified, political scientist Prof. Antoaneta Hristova told Bulgaria ON AIR.

The differences between "We continue the change" and "Democratic Bulgaria"

"PP-DB is a pathological unit. PP is a typical left-wing organization, they are socially oriented and have liberal ideas. They come from families connected to power before 1989. DB is the history of the development of the groups that once broke away from the UDF. The two formations cannot be together because they have fundamentally different origins and different basic concepts," she explained.

In her words, DB is deforming and adopting the image of PP: "There is the influence of old authorities like Ivan Kostov and we cannot expect the group to go to the left-liberal group."
According to Prof. Hristova, the question is how each party sees its perspective. One may separate, this would be a completely rational choice, but it will be temporary, she believes.

They are held back by the situation with the first place that PP took after its appearance, said in turn political scientist Assoc. Prof. Tatyana Burudzhieva.

"Some of them started from "Yes, Bulgaria", it was logical for them to unite. The urban right wing in the DB coalition saw in the PP the partner with which it could stably become a parliamentaryly represented party. The same thing that brought them together could divide them. The PP is increasingly losing electoral weight and the arguments of the DB to swallow the differences in policies are becoming less and less", she commented in "Bulgaria Sutra".

According to Assoc. Prof. Burudzhieva, the second factor that acts destructively in the coalition are the policies themselves, which should be supported or opposed to.
The PP becomes a party with one leader?
"Asen Vassilev is a "strong-arm" type leader, he does not tolerate other leaders around. He strongly and publicly twists their hands for certain actions. The PP's problem is that they will go to the new partner with the same style. A majority is needed for judicial reform, and that's why the questions are constantly who the ministers will be and whether they will coordinate them," analyzes Assoc. Prof. Burudzhieva.

According to her, other processes are underway in the PP - there is almost "structuring a leadership party".

"The DB cannot help but be worried by these actions. The possibility of having other leaders is ending. Assen Vassilev seems tolerant, but we saw that when he made a decision, we did not see him making it in sync with his partners. He makes a decision and starts to impose it," emphasized Assoc. Prof. Tatyana Burudzhieva.

Whether they will stay together depends on how each party sees itself, noted Prof. Hristova.

Potential cooperation between PP-DB and "Progressive Bulgaria"
She believes that for specific policies and votes it is right for Radev to raise the issue of support in principle, but beyond that "showing a positive attitude will only harm him".
