Kostadin Kostadinov shared what is different in the new parliament - 1

In the first days of work of the 52nd National Assembly, the leader of „Vazrazhdane“ Kostadin Kostadinov outlined a clear line of behavior - critical of the ruling majority and aimed at, in his words, „telling the truth“ about the state of the country.

„If telling the truth in parliament means being sharp - then yes, we will be like that.“

A different parliament, but with the same problems

According to Kostadinov, the current parliament is distinguished by a clearer political configuration: „For the first time since 1997, there is complete supremacy of one political force, less parties and clear political responsibility.“

He also notes a change in the atmosphere:

„The good thing about this parliament is that the figures who degraded the institution with indecent behavior are gone.“

However, he warns that his party will not fit into the sought-after „good tone“ at any cost: „If showing society's shortcomings means being the bad boy - so be it.“

„Vazrazhdane“ as an „awake conscience“ in the parliament

Kostadinov emphasized the role of his party: „We are called to be the awake conscience in a parliament in which everyone speaks the same thing.“

And he adds, that their main goal is to present the real picture in the country:

„The demographic catastrophe, inflation, price increases, the state of education and security - all of this is exactly as we say.“

Criticism of energy dependence

A serious emphasis in the speech was placed on energy policy:

„We are currently completely dependent on supplies of liquefied gas from the USA.“ In his words, real diversification is missing: „We have the opportunity to choose between expensive gas and expensive gas from the same supplier.“

The sanctions against Russia - „must be lifted“, according to Kostadinov. „We want the sanctions against Russia to be lifted so that there is real diversification.“

He specified that in his opinion the choice should be economically justified: “If Russian gas is more expensive – we buy another. But at the moment we have no choice.“

The question of sovereignty and the EU

The leader of “Vazrazhdane“ also posed a broader political question: “If the supremacy of European law is above national law, then why do we have a national parliament?“ And added: “If we ask Bulgarians whether they want decisions to be made in Brussels, I do not believe that the majority would say “yes“.“

Legislative initiatives on the first day The party has submitted several specific proposals: “Yesterday we submitted several decisions to parliament – termination of the agreement with Ukraine, withdrawal of loan guarantees, changes in the law on the National Security Agency and rules for the election of the Supreme Judicial Council.“

Kostadinov stressed that actions are more important than words: “It is one thing to talk, another to do it.“

Criticism of the pace of government

Regarding the formation of a government, he was categorical: “Good paces are not happening. There should have been a government by now.“ And he added: “We should have seen the first legislative acts of the new majority.“

Among the key proposals of “Vazrazhdane“ are: “Abolition of sanctions against Russia so that we have cheap oil and gas.“ And: “Return of the Bulgarian lev.“

According to him, the price of Russian oil could be 20-30%, even 40% lower.

In conclusion, Kostadin Kostadinov emphasized:

“The big question before the state is what real actions will be taken.“ And he stated that his party will continue to insist on its policies, regardless of its position in parliament.
