A team of geologists and designers will inspect the section of road III-8641 Smolyan - Pamporovo in the Raykovski Livadi area affected by the activated landslide, the press center of the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works (MRDPW) announced.
They specified that the goal is to determine whether measures can be taken for temporary strengthening and construction of a temporary road on which traffic can be restored, until a project for the permanent restoration of the section is prepared.
For now, the section of the third-class road remains closed. Until safety is ensured, traffic will be diverted along the bypass routes on road III-864 Pamporovo - Stoykite - Smolyan and through the Rozhen pass.
Immediately after the Road Infrastructure Agency detected violations on the road surface, actions were taken to restrict traffic. The area has been secured and signaled. About 5,000 sq. m of land has collapsed as a result of the activated landslide, and the affected section of the road is nearly 70 meters long, the MRDPW added.
Due to the collapse of the roadway and the activation of a landslide on the Smolyan-Pamporovo road, gas and electricity supply in the area has been suspended for safety reasons, the press center of the Ministry of Interior announced.
