The Minister of Energy Iva Petrova and Deputy Ministers Dr. Lyubomira Gancheva and Kiril Temelkov held a working meeting with the Chairman of the Energy and Water Regulatory Commission (EWRC) Plamen Mladenovski.

During the meeting, topical issues related to the stability and sustainable development of the energy sector, the regulatory framework and the challenges facing the electricity system in the conditions of a dynamic market environment and accelerated development of new energy capacities were discussed.

Special attention was paid to the preparation for the new price period in the “Electricity“ sector, which is approved annually by a decision of the Energy and Water Regulatory Commission and enters into force on July 1, 2026 , with a focus on predictability for market participants and the protection of household consumers.

The possibilities for improving the interaction between the Ministry of Energy and KEWR in implementing the strategic priorities in the sector, including the development of the electricity transmission infrastructure, the integration of renewable energy sources and the long-term energy security of the country, were also discussed.

„Maintaining a sustainable and predictable energy sector requires active dialogue and good institutional interaction. Our common goal is to guarantee security of supply and protect the interests of consumers“, said Minister Petrova.

For his part, Plamen Mladenovski emphasized the importance of a stable regulatory framework and a coordinated approach to managing processes in the energy sector, especially in the context of preparing KEWR decisions for the new price period.

The parties united around the need for consistent actions to increase the sustainability and competitiveness of the Bulgarian energy sector in the long term.
