Yesterday, the US Air Force tanker planes left the base in Bezmer and flew away from Bulgaria. This was announced to journalists by the Minister of Defense Dimitar Stoyanov, who participated in the celebration of the 149th anniversary of the Shipka epic on the peak of the same name, bTV reports. The national celebration is being held under the patronage of the president.
"These days we are working in sync with the US government, we had preliminary information and our decisions were based on clear and accurate information, not on conspiracy theories", Stoyanov added.
"So far, I have not found any reason to convene the National Security Advisory Council", President Iliana Yotova told journalists after participating in an official ceremony at the foot of Shipka.
Yotova commented on the position of some political forces that such a council is necessary due to the possible threat to the "Bezmer" base.
The president noted that the planes that were at the "Bezmer" airbase had taken off from there. "I think that at this stage this mission is over", Yotova added.
