The manager and doctors in the hospital and outpatient care at the MBPL "Dr. Ivan Raev" in Sopot are resigning. According to the manager, Dr. Stefan Anastasov, the reason is "a policy of genocide" by the local authorities. He stated that he will notify the NHIF to take legal action, BNT reported.
In an official letter to the mayor of Sopot Stanislav Stoenchev and the chairwoman of the Municipal Council Antonina Tsocheva, Dr. Anastasov stated that due to disagreement with the policy towards the medical institution and the negative attitudes being created, in his words, he has decided to terminate his contractual relations with the Sopot Municipality.
The financial situation of the hospital remains extremely worrying. Last month's salaries were paid after a transfer of 15,000 euros from the Sopot Municipality, with the funds being allocated following a decision by the Municipal Council. According to Dr. Anastasov, the transfer was delayed, and after the payment of the salaries, the medical facility no longer has sufficient financial resources for the current month.
Additional tension is also created by the failed procedure for selecting a new manager. Although one candidate appeared, the procedure was suspended because the necessary document was not presented.
The mayor of Sopot Stanislav Stoenchev said that he is organizing a meeting with the manager and doctors about the future of the medical facility.
