Lyubomir Stefanov: I am not optimistic about the results of the elections

The political situation is unusual, as we are in the first case in which we have to apply the hypothesis of the new Constitution. Misunderstandings occur quite naturally and normally. If we continue a little further, already with our biases about who holds which position, it seems strange that in a caretaker government there is a prime minister who also holds the position of foreign minister. And quite not by chance, his foreign policy advisor resigned.

I miss explanations from the whole conversation, because it is still an unusual situation. I wish there was a little more logic and order, as the caretaker government has one clearly defined function, apart from running the country between two parliaments, to organize fair and transparent elections. This is what the political scientist Lyubomir Stefanov said in the program "Bulgaria, Europe and the world in focus" on Radio "Focus".

He noted that he is not optimistic about the result in 2 months of the European Parliament and national elections: "Because politicians run away from political narrative and conversation with us, the voters and citizens of the republic. They constantly hint to everyone that it is important to vote, that this is the only way to prevent electoral abuse and any kind of doubt about the character and fairness of the elections, but they do nothing to encourage it, on the contrary, in some mad, mad race counter with arguments at the level of qualifications. This is anything but a political narrative. This is an acceptable late-night narrative in specialty drinking establishments".

The political scientist drew attention to the need for a leadership debate in the unusual political situation: "I don't remember when I haven't seen a leadership debate on any of the national media. And I would like this year to witness a new step forward. Those people who actually claim to be the leaders of their political formats should start behaving as such.
