Today is the kind of Tax Freedom Day. This is the hypothetical date on which we would replenish the state treasury if everything we produce since the beginning of the year goes only to the benefit of the budget. This is according to an analysis by the Institute for Market Economy (IPI).
Assuming that we generate over BGN 562 million per day, calculated on the basis of the estimated Gross Domestic Product during the year, it takes 134 days to replenish the state treasury. According to the calendar, taking into account the fact that the year is a leap year, the day of tax freedom occurs precisely at the beginning of the current week.
