The new prices of heating and electricity for household use from July 1 were submitted to public discussion in the Commission for Energy and Water Regulation, BNR reported.

The proposal is to reduce the cost of the heating service by nearly 8.5% for the country.

The most serious reduction is expected in Burgas - by 14%. A lower price is planned for Sofia by 7 percent, and in Plovdiv - by nearly 8 percent.

At least it is planned that heating and hot water will become cheaper in Veliko Tarnovo - by 2.5%.

As for electricity - KEVR chairman Ivan Ivanov assured that the commission will adhere to a minimal price increase.

"Users can rest easy. In fact, the price we defined as an increase on average is 1.39%, but at the same time, let me note that for the three electricity supply companies, the prices vary according to the companies themselves, networks, consumers, energy, what they consume," explained Ivanov.

According to KEVR's proposal, the biggest electricity price increase is expected for subscribers of "Electrohold" in Western Bulgaria, who will have to pay 2.74 percent more.

The expected price for EVN in Southeast Bulgaria is higher by 1.46 percent, compared to the current regulatory period. For users of "Energo-Pro" however, electricity is proposed to become cheaper by 0.9%.
