The Union of Judges asked to continue the investigation of the activities of the Notary in the 50th National Assembly - 1

Although a temporary commission was created in the previous National Assembly to investigate the activities of the group around Martin Bojanov - the Notary, its work has not been completed. The collected evidence has not been analyzed, and the commission's report has not been accepted, the Union of Judges in Bulgaria stated in their position.

The first session of the new parliament began with promises of responsible governance, but serious problems remain to be addressed. One of its most important goals is to fight the networks of influence in the judicial system, revealed at the beginning of the year, the organization also said. The magistrates insist that the 50th National Assembly create a new temporary commission to finish what was started.

According to them, the following steps are needed:

Expanding the scope of the investigation: In addition to Bojanov's group, other cases of influence on magistrates should be investigated, such as the "circle of the Eight Dwarfs" and the private clubs for magistrates.

Analysis of the collected materials: The Commission must gain access to the documents required by the Prosecutor's Office, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the National Security Agency, the Criminal Code and the SJC, and analyze them together with the protocols of the hearings.

Hearing of key figures: It is mandatory to hear former chief prosecutor Sotir Tsatsarov, acting chief prosecutor Borislav Sarafov, as well as members of Bojanov's group - lawyers Velimir Atanasov, Kalin Chankov and Emil Piskov.

"Only through a thorough and transparent investigation can it be guaranteed that real reforms will be carried out in the judicial system. We expect the 50th National Assembly to take responsibility and ensure justice that is fair, efficient and equal for all Bulgarian citizens," the position reads. The hearing of the report on the Notary by the Judicial College of the SJC failed.

Otherwise, the rule of law, which is not only a fundamental European value, but also the basis of statehood, will remain in question, the Union of Judges in Bulgaria also stated.
