„It is no surprise that the parties are in the trend of their own progressive infirmity, they develop in the direction of their decline. The faces of their leaders are worn out mainly because they have capitalized on systemic mistakes over a long period of time. They declared intentions that failed one by one,“, said psychiatrist Dr. Nikolay Mihailov in the bTV studio.
In his words, this decline gives rise to extravagant and picturesque alternatives.
„I passed by this decorative city “Historical Park”. It is something that amazes and frightens at the same time, it is some kind of carnival, a mess. Now he also has a political claim. This is an inevitable compensation, to sprout from the soil an alternative or alternatives that replace this almost dramatic deficit of the parties with history”, explained Dr. Mihailov.
„The parliamentary environment cannot produce governance, it is struggling terribly, it is visibly working, but it is not succeeding and it is not clear to what extent it is working for its own image and to what extent for its country. It must be said outright that it is a question of the weakness of the Bulgarian parliamentary democracy, he added.
In his words, the decline of the parties is directly related to the low voter turnout on June 9.
„The famous sovereign voter has a tolerance threshold for this, because he is in the hall of a great political theater that becomes ridiculous and harmful to health, to mental health. Therefore, there is an exhaustion of patience, then people vote in a paradoxical way by not appearing at the polls, and that is also a vote. If there is a well-read voice in these elections, it is precisely the one who is absent from the ballot box, which means resignation, apathy, refusal to participate in the process”, said psychiatrist Nikolay Mihailov.
According to him, there is an undeclared expectation among society, as well as among political leaders, for the intervention of President Rumen Radev on the political stage.
