Discontent is brewing over planned drilling for gold and non-ferrous metals in the Iskar Gorge. Information about this came from social networks, where there are already hundreds of dissatisfied people. So far, the authorities have not confirmed the planned drilling for gold mining in the land of the villages of Bov and Gara and the village of Lakatnik. It is planned that the exploration will be at a depth of 1,900 meters and will begin very soon, specifies the BNR.
If this happens, the walking route from Kom to Emine will be affected, with 6 conflict points. There is a high probability that the integrity of the tourist trail “Under the Kamiko", as well as the remains of a well-preserved Roman road, will be disturbed.
I remind you that a year ago there was activity in this direction for the area between Belogradchik and Chiprovtsi, but the adequate position of the local authorities thwarted the search for gold in the bowels of the Balkans. Environmentalists urged local communities to be careful and warned that gold mining is accompanied by serious environmental pollution.
