The situation in Blagoevgrad region is becoming more and more complicated. This is what the regional governor of Blagoevgrad, Georgi Dinev, who is currently located under the village of Senokos, Simitli municipality, said at a press briefing, a reporter from "Focus” reported.
"According to information, four houses have been burned at the moment. Fortunately, no one was injured. There is currently a team that will evacuate a woman. The bad thing is that the fire starts in a wooded area above the village and covers a forest. The even worse news is that the fire above the village of Mikrevo has flared up again and teams will have to be redirected there as well. The situation is complicated, he added.
The director of the Southwest State Enterprise, Eng. Valentin Chambov, for his part, stated that by 4:00 p.m. the other fire in Southwest Bulgaria – the one burning in Maleshevska Planina, in the Strumyani region, was calm.
"We have diverted some forces to this fire. Unfortunately, near Strumyani also caught fire, which means that tonight and especially tomorrow, we have to make a new predislocation for both fires. TheSenokos fire is very active and we won't be able to tackle it tonight. In addition to this helicopter, we are looking for another one. The terrain is very steep. Air treatment is the only one suitable for extinguishing this fire. You see there is enough manpower – firefighters, foresters and volunteers. The point is that we have to put it out with the right equipment. You can see that it's still throwing water, but it's a pretty strong and active summit fire," he pointed out.
From his words, it became clear that four fires are burning on the territory of the Southwest State Enterprise – on the Bulgarian-Greek border, near the village of Senokos, near Strumyani and in the area of Ihtiman.
"The fire on the Bulgarian-Greek border is the calmest, it has not been extinguished, but the situation is relatively calm. In an hour or two we will arrange the forces, means and machines. In Maleshevska Planina, the fire has jumped over the clearing we made yesterday and the other day. There is no danger to people. For Senokos - the fire is going to a hamlet, there is one resident, the police took her out. "No one was injured in the burnt houses," he said
Regional Governor Georgi Dinev noted that coordination is currently being made to redirect the Swedish planes to Senokos, so that the fire can be affected at its beginning.
"We will try to have everything that we have as flying machines in the territory of the district be redirected here. I have also notified the Prime Minister. We will look for aircraft equipment outside of Bulgaria, he explained.
