There is low interest in the training of doctors paid by the state to improve the organization of donation and transplants in our country. This was announced during the week by the director of the "Medical Supervision" agency. Ivanka Dineva. And he recalled that there is an opportunity to study in Barcelona, with state funds paying the participation fee, travel and accommodation expenses, specifies the BNR.
Two months ago, the agency sent information about the training to hospital directors in order to attract those who wish to join them. The budget for this year is BGN 650 thousand. The trainings are not only for the donor situation teams, explained Ivanka Dineva:
"And let every doctor who has acquired a specialty and works in medical institutions specializing in anesthesiology, neurology, surgery, pulmonologists, all kinds of doctors who want and think they find a place in their souls and in their hearts on the topic "Yes, for life".
According to Dineva, there is no limit to the number of candidates who can be trained. But they cannot be obliged.
"If they don't want to qualify and we keep turning organs down, then we'll rethink next year the order in which we give these extra funds. But you can't force someone to study.
Although our country is in seventh place in terms of moving donor situations in the past year in a list of a total of 40 countries, the number of transplants is still low. Currently, over 770 Bulgarians are waiting for a kidney, and another 65 people need other organs.
