< strong>We have created an action plan, which will be completed at the end of September, for the most urgent measures that we need to take to improve the railway infrastructure and its condition. This was stated by Eng. Stoyan Stoyanov, General Director of National Company ;Railway infrastructure". He took part in a discussion on the development of railway transport, broadcast by BTA.
Stoyanov emphasized that carriers need a better condition of the infrastructure in order to provide quality and timely service.
"We should not look at infrastructure as an end in itself and build infrastructure for its own sake. We need to build infrastructure for business – rail carriers and their customers. For me, it is important to prioritize passenger transport, because that is the face of the railways, without detracting from freight carriers, who do quite serious business. When the taxpayer gets on a train, he likens railways to passenger transport. When we provide infrastructure for passenger transportation, there will be infrastructure for rail freight carriers as well," Stoyanov pointed out.
He stressed that frequent meetings should be held with rail freight carriers to develop the infrastructure "based on the will of the business".
About 550 trains run a day, about 17,000 a month. 129 locomotives are needed for their service. Of these 129 locomotives, the most popular is the 40 series, currently 49 such units are needed, Eng. Georgi Drumev, executive director of "Holding Bulgarian State Railways", summarized during the discussion. EAD.
Since the beginning of the year, we have had five accidents, and they happened between June and August, Drumev pointed out.
"After each incident, our specialists analyze the causes in order to improve the condition of the rolling stock and prevent such incidents from happening again. It turned out that all incidents are in this series 40," commented Drumev. Analyzing the relevant technical reasons that led to the incidents, we have taken measures to prevent more such incidents, he added.
According to him, another problem is the electrical installation. The relevant devices have been purchased to ascertain the specific gaps, explained Drumev.
We plan to install video surveillance in the locomotives and locomotives, the BDZ director also said.
