The director of the capital AG hospital "Sheynovo" has permission to conclude an out-of-court settlement to compensate one of the families of the babies exchanged two years ago, BNR reported.
The permission was given at a meeting of the Metropolitan Municipal Council, without commenting on the value of the compensation and the personal data of the mother who will receive it. According to the BNR, the hospital will pay BGN 70,000 for the damage caused by the woman's separation from her child.
The authorization for an out-of-court settlement was voted a month after the Sofia City Court ordered the hospital to pay BGN 70,000 to one of the mothers, partially upholding her claim for BGN 200,000 compensation. Claims by the baby's grandmother and sister totaling BGN 100,000 were rejected. The out-of-court compensation agreement took place at the initiative of the injured family.
At the meeting of the municipal council today, only Anton Koichev from GERB-SDS made a laconic comment about what was achieved:
"A good result has been achieved that satisfies everyone".
From Anton Koichev's words, it is clear that an out-of-court settlement will be sought for the family of the other swapped baby, who was awarded the sum of 100,000 BGN as compensation for non-property damages in March of this year at the first instance.
