Transplant patients report lack of vital medication - 1

NOVA viewers report lack of vital medicine for transplants. It is about an immunosuppressant, which has been missing from pharmacies in Stara Zagora for the second month.

However, the problem is periodically faced by people in other cities in our country. How are patients treated when there is no alternative?

Mila Andonova got a chance for a new life 15 years ago. Since then, he has been living with a new kidney and daily immunosuppressant therapy. Shares that it prevents rejection of the organ.

However, her therapy reached a dead end in September. "At the moment, I have borrowed from another transplanted one blister, which is 10 capsules. If I interrupt it, I return to the starting point and switch to dialysis, explained Mila.

Ivan Dimitrov reveals that he spoke with the manufacturer and they said they have it in stock. "From then on, the pharmacy called the distributors, and they frankly lied and said that they did not receive drugs from the company!", he says.

The problem is chronic, say patient organizations. "This problem exists every year! Let this drama end because it is a crime against people who have a second chance to live.

"There are not so many patients in Bulgaria with transplanted kidneys that we can afford to waste," Dimitrov added.

For NOVA, the Health Insurance Fund stated that there is no interruption in the process of supplying the medicine. No reports of its shortage have been received by the Ministry of Health. From there, they assure that there is no problem with the timely provision of the medication. And they add that there are sufficient quantities in the warehouses of the distributors.

And Mila begins to doubt that the medicines are being exported and that is the reason why they are not reaching the patients.
