The state is trying to solve the crisis with medical staff by offering higher pay. The specialists will receive about 2,330 BGN more than their income - or two and a half minimum wages.

The bonus will be for doctors, dentists, nurses and midwives. The project is for 170 specialists worth BGN 15 million and will last until 2028.

The Ministry of Health reminds that this project is also for nurses and midwives, for which there are currently no applications.

"While specializing, they receive this additional funding, and the aim of the project is to attract new specialists to the specific specialties, that is, knowing that the given specialty is in short supply either at the regional level or at the national level, a candidate to become a specialist in it to receives project funding. The goal is precisely to attract more specialists in precisely these specialties and in the specific fields," commented Dr. Iskra Koleva, head of the "Education and Qualification" department. in the Ministry of Health.

Specialists will be incentivized with 2 and a half minimum wages during their specialization in addition to the income received. This is just one of the measures of the Ministry of Health in their attempts to solve the problem of lack of personnel.
