Birshen Ibryamova before FACTS: Many people have become toys in the hands of Mr. Peevski

Ceyhan Ibryamov remains in custody for now. This was also confirmed by the Court of Appeal. Ibryamov has been charged with soliciting and receiving a bribe for the purpose of influence peddling. At the moment, Ibryamov remains silent. Birshen Ibryamov – Jeyhan Ibryamov's wife, announced a hunger strike after his detention, but ended it on the sixth day. This is what Birshen Ibryamova shared with FACTS.

- Mrs. Ibryamova, how are you? How are you feeling?
- I feel good. Slightly out of whack, but I'm getting back to normal life.

- You have ended the hunger strike. You got public support, but…
- I was very pleased that many women supported me. It made me very happy. It turns out that women are really strong and can feel the emotion in a mother and wife when she is faced with injustice.

- But why did you end the strike…
? - The first thing that made me end this hunger strike is that I saw that there was no point. Not a single institution in our country took an interest in why I am on hunger strike, what is happening to me. Secondly, my husband also asked me to do it. Thirdly, of course, because of the children, because they need me. I clearly saw that, unfortunately, the VAS, the CEC, the National Assembly and even the Council of Ministers are under the control of Mr. Peevski. Once again, I was convinced that the court was listening only to him. It is clear from the Court of Appeal's decision that my husband will continue to be in custody indefinitely. So I decided that there is no point in harming my health, especially because children need at least one parent to be with them.

- What happened at the meeting of the Court of Appeal, which confirmed the detention order…
- At the hearing, word for word, the Court of Appeal confirmed the decision of the Sofia City Court. They didn't even bother to have other reasons to confirm the decision. Somehow they didn't accept any of our lawyers' arguments.

- Such a thing is not commented on in court. This is the most interesting. In no way was this commented on in the courtroom, and then it turned out that the media had such information. This once again makes me think that many people have become toys in the hands of Mr. Peevski. By law, when there is an SRS, the meeting must be held behind closed doors. And the court allowed the case to be heard behind closed doors. They obviously wanted to make a circus.

- Have your lawyers familiarized themselves with the srs that have been used and talked about?
- They were given 15 minutes to review new evidence.

- These new evidences are about time. What happened in the parking lot, or the time before…
- Rather, they are from the prequel. We can't talk about the merits of the case since our lawyers attack the way my husband was detained at all. Given that this is absolutely against the Constitution, there is no way to proceed with the case on its merits. Look, we clearly saw why this happened, after yesterday Mr. Peevski thanked the acting chief prosecutor (Borislav Sarafov) with the proposal that he be the new chief prosecutor. Things are clear. They are so clear about this play that even school-aged children know and understand what it is about. I regret that all that is happening is greatly underestimated by the public and the Bulgarian people at the moment.

- What further actions do you plan to take…
- The National Assembly is on vacation, but it is actually an active body and can be convened. Maybe next week it will become clear how far this initiative will go and which political forces will support the initiative.

- What can she decide?
- What we want is to have an extraordinary meeting to discuss how the immunity of People's Representative Jeyhan Ibryamov was removed. I hope that the instinct for self-preservation of the people's representatives - the remaining 239 people - will work despite the pressure that will be exerted on them by Mr. Peevski. If this is happening to Ceyhan now, it could happen to any of them at any moment.
