Krasimir Karakachanov: Once again Austria is hypocritically blocking Bulgaria for Schengen. Sofia to block EU funding! - 1

Once again Austria hypocritically blocks Bulgaria from joining the Schengen area. The decision to drop land border controls remains a mirage. The case is emblematic of the hypocrisy of Western Europe when it comes to countries on the periphery of the Union.

The real reason Bulgaria is blocked for overland Schengen is economic.

And Austria, for economic reasons, is currently playing the role of the villain. Western European lobbies block Bulgaria because of economic corridors, not because of migrants. While Bulgaria and Romania stand outside, flows to the ports of Rotterdam and Hamburg are guaranteed.

Entry from Piraeus and Thessaloniki is practically limited because trucks sit for days at the borders for checks.

This commented on "Facebook" the leader of VMRO Krasimir Karakachanov.

From VMRO, we predicted such a development of things and shared these concerns, even when the government “Denkov-Gabriel” signed an agreement with Austria for the return of migrants, which agreement, by the way, is still a secret for Bulgarian society. Now we call on the Bulgarian government and parliament to show their backbone and denounce the agreement with Austria.

In today's European politics, things also happen by knocking on the table. Bulgaria could block some European Council issues to force Austria to stop making fun of us. It is logical to raise the question of why Austria continues to use, for example, Russian gas.

It is logical to raise a question why Austria introduces and continues to implement border control in the conditions of circumvention of the rules for temporary (six-month) control. And there are other topics, as long as our Council of Ministers decides to play hard and aggressively. With bangs in the waist and politeness we will not break through.

Our country should start blocking decisions of the European Council - especially those related to funding, because whoever explains to us – it's about interests and money, not about criteria that we have fulfilled a long time ago.

Hypocrisy and thin accounts must be answered firmly, not with pleasantries. Bulgaria must protect its interests and those of its citizens.
