„Bulgaria needs a regular cabinet. For 42 months we have been living in a situation in which 6 caretaker governments and only 2 regular governments have ruled. Both of them, by the way, were broadcast under the mandate of PP-DB.“
This was stated by Andrey Tsekov, candidate for MP from PP-DB and leader of the list in Blagoevgrad in “This morning” on bTV about the post-election situation, which is coming up in just 10 days.
„The political reality in our country is such that no party can get an absolute majority that would allow it to form an all-party political cabinet. The last such in 1997 after the Vienna winter. Any formula for a regular government goes through program talks. The key here is with whom such conversations can be held”, he explained.
“We will hold talks with the political forces to implement a program aimed at improving people's well-being. Our focus is better health care, quality education, care for young people, a fair competitive environment for business with help from the state for technological modernization, Tsekov also said.
„We will not participate in conversations in which Mr. Delyan Peevski is directly or indirectly at the negotiation table, next to it, behind it, or under it. The same applies to “Revival” because of their homophobic, I would even say fascist attitudes”, he was categorical.
He also explained that the cabinet formula of “We continue the change“ includes it being completely politically neutral and with a prime minister who is a non-partisan public figure.
„Between PP-DB and GERB there is huge mistrust. Trust is built on the basis of actual actions, not on words and not on what is written on paper. One test of confidence in a future administration would be the implementation of the anti-corruption reform. This is about simple things – for the adoption of the Law on the Judiciary, for the adoption of the rules for the election of the members of the Anti-Corruption Commission, for the Law on Personal Bankruptcy, the Law for the Protection of Whistleblowers, Tsekov also explained.
„I believe that in order to hold talks on the formation of a non-political cabinet with GERB, they must prove 2 things. The release from their dependence on Delyan Peevski, which they can demonstrate through this package of measures”, said Tsekov.
According to his words, all these reforms could have been implemented in the last 2 years, but due to the fault of GERB, they failed. (at that time they were in a coalition – ed.)
