Hygisun brand half face filter mask sold online with model number HS0501A is banned for sale in the European Union , after laboratory tests showed an unsatisfactory level of effectiveness. This is reported by the online platform “We, the consumers”, referring to data from the register of the European system for rapid exchange of information on proven dangerous non-food products Safety Gate.
The overall filtering capacity of the mask is insufficient, and even if combined with other recommended measures, it may not protect properly, according to the experts' conclusions after the tests. It has been proven that the product does not meet the health and safety requirements, as it does not meet the norms of the Personal Protective Equipment Regulation and the European standard EN 149.
Masks are sold individually in transparent plastic packaging, on which there is a blue tape with the inscription “Persönliche Schutzmaske - personal protective mask“ (personal protective mask). A blue label is placed on the back providing information about the use of the mask, how to wear it, precautions, warnings, etc. The product is manufactured in China, and the risks are reported by Germany.
The measures taken are the withdrawal of the distributed batches from the market and from end users and the suspension of sales. However, the mask can still be found in some places for online sales and it is important that consumers are warned about the risks.
