A suspended sentence of 11 months in prison with a 3-year probationary period the mayor of the Shumen village Stoyan Mihailovski Shenol Khalil received. The decision of the District Court in Novi Pazar comes after an agreement was reached with the prosecutor's office.
Khalil has admitted that he gave BGN 150 to a person from the village in order to persuade him to exercise his right to vote in the elections for people's representatives for the 51st National Assembly. The deal in favor of a political party was made two days before the vote - on October 25, it is clear from the court ruling.
This is a second viewing of the case study. The first time, the magistrates did not accept the amount of the punishment - 6 months of imprisonment, because of the high degree of public danger of the act. The physical evidence, including a notebook and a sheet with 40 names, remain in the case.
Determination is final.
Meanwhile, Mayor Halil filed for early termination of his powers at the beginning of November. The municipal election commission in Novi Pazar has invalidated the issued certificate for the mayor of a town hall.
