And DPS – New Beginnings and GERD are doing pretty decent considering what their goals are. Their goals are obviously to continue to be an unavoidable factor in Bulgarian politics. Their behavior likely serves this narrative. The big question is that this does not lead to a long-term perspective – neither for them, nor for the Bulgarian government and for the possibility of normalizing the political process. That is, focused on their political survival, the state becomes a bet on that. So the political scientist Hristo Panchugov answered on the air of Darik Radio the question whether there are formations in the 51st National Assembly that are aware of what they should do and what not.
"There is only one possible governing coalition in this parliament, but the exact formations that could make it up are not talking to each other. One of the things we know from negotiation theory is that it's good to keep the basic parameters and the talks of the deal out of the public eye. So that there is still an opportunity to retreat if something breaks, Panchugov said.
According to him, the fact that the conversation between "We continue the change"-"Democratic Bulgaria" and GERB has been public from the very beginning, it is indicative that it does not aim to reach an agreement, but an attempt to dominate the opponent.
