Chief Commissioner Anton Zlatanov: The path of refugees through Bulgarian territory has become 70% more difficult - 1

Bulgaria has long fulfilled the criteria for Schengen and by land, but what we did this year and last year, is that we managed to close the door on illegal migration. This was stated in the “NOVA News Interview” the director of DG “Border Police” chief commissioner Anton Zlatanov.
In his words, the refugees' path through Bulgarian territory has become 70% more difficult. “Last summer was the worst in history. Then we reached up to 1,500 prevented attempts to enter the country illegally and up to 400-500 detained in the interior, said Ch. com. Zlatanov. “There will continue to be migrants and races, but we will catch them”, threatened the head of the “Border Police”.
„If on December 12 the foreign ministers of the 27 finally decide that Bulgaria and Romania will enter Schengen and by land, the passage from Bulgaria to Greece and Romania will not need to happen through the checkpoint. Then people will be able to pass undisturbed and through the green border”, Zlatanov emphasized.
