In an interview for "Face to face" Ivaylo Mirchev from "Democratic Bulgaria" reacts to the news that i.f. chief prosecutor Borislav Sarafov requested the parliamentary immunity of Kiril Petkov due to the arrest of Boyko Borisov, Vladislav Goranov and Sevdalina Arnaudova in 2022.
"Nothing new under the Sun. The prosecutor's office is currently being used as a club," he commented.
Mirchev stated that he was not surprised at all, since according to him, a meeting took place today between Borislav Sarafov and Delyan Peevski, after which the relevant action was taken by the Prosecutor's Office. "This is happening shortly after we introduced the Law on the Judiciary, for which there is a majority in the National Assembly. With this law we say "goodbye" of Sarafov. In the plenary hall, Peevski has a habit of turning from the front row and threatening us with words in the style of: "now you will see what will happen". He threatened both Kiril and us," the deputy said.
"In this way - with immunities it will not happen. We have fought battles with people like him for a long time: Tsatsarov, Geshev. There is no option in which someone will be broken by being asked for immunity," Mirchev was categorical.
"Democratic Bulgaria" categorically does not give up on the declaration demanding the formation of a sanitary cordon around Delyan Peevski. "There is no way a parent can give up their child," Mirchev stressed.
