The clearing of the Troyan Pass through road II-35 Troyan - Karnare continues. Passage through it was temporarily restricted for all motor vehicles after the snowfalls at the end of December last year and the deteriorated weather conditions. In the highest Stara Planina Pass, the snowdrifts reached 2-3 meters in places. Specialized equipment began work at the end of last week and reached the ridge of Stara Planina. If there are no strong winds in the coming days and new precipitation, traffic through the pass is expected to be restored for vehicles up to 12 tons.
10 snowplows - rotary and combined snowplows, excavators and other specialized equipment, are clearing the snowdrifts. The teams of road maintenance companies in the Lovech and Plovdiv districts are working mobilised to restore traffic through the pass as quickly as possible. The route is the most direct connection between Central Northern Bulgaria, including Pleven, Lovech and Troyan, and Southern Bulgaria.
