Assoc. Prof. Lozanov: Delyan Peevski has not given up on having a key role in the government - 1

Will the regular government work? When will the disputes turn into work? Is the accusation against Kiril Petkov a political act or delayed justice? These questions were commented on by former MP Yuliana Doncheva, political scientist Tsvetanka Andreeva and media expert Assoc. Prof. Georgi Lozanov in the studio of “Wake up” on Nova TV.

According to Yuliana Doncheva, the case with Kiril Petkov from Friday is “a scandal that we have already seen”.

“Accusations are being raised against party leaders. "It leaves an unpleasant impression that these are political tactics that show society that the justice system in Bulgaria has no arguments to convince us that something is happening," Doncheva said.

“It is obvious that there is political pressure on the justice system, which is growing”, Assoc. Prof. Georgi Lozanov believes. He also commented on the scandal that erupted after words spoken very quietly by Yavor Dyankov - Kiril Petkov's karate coach, in front of the prosecutor's office.

“This scandal should show that there are serious grounds for suspecting Kiril Petkov of connections and opportunities to influence the justice system. This is the way to once again get society into a hater's attitude against the PP-DB. It is as if there is an attempt to erase this democratic right from the map of Bulgarian politics," Assoc. Prof. Georgi Lozanov.

The topic was also commented on by Tsvetanka Andreeva.

„We also see what is happening around the world. We see Sarkozy after how many years he has a sentence. We see Trump, that he is still under indictment. So it cannot be said that justice has been delayed. Ultimately, it is a question of a big scandal, of an arrest that was unlawful. Petkov received the public sanction a long time ago. Let us not forget that at the heart of this accusation is an attempt to seize power in an unlawful manner, through the arrest of an opposition leader”, said Tsvetanka Andreeva.

The signals regarding whether there will be a government are mixed, believes Yuliana Doncheva.

„Compromises must be made. "Whims and stubbornness in this situation are not understandable to people," said Doncheva.

„There are two hypotheses. One is that they have a desire and are conducting complex negotiations. The other is that Delyan Peevski has not given up on having a key role in the government and in this sense it is clear in advance that he will not allow such a government through his influences," said Assoc. Prof. Lozanov.

„In my opinion, there is an impulse for calm in politics. The core around which the negotiations are being conducted - GERB and Borisov, had the ambition to calm the state. These are the pluses. From here follow many minuses. We have a very unstable environment in a geopolitical sense, but especially in the domestic political aspect. GERB has very unstable partners with whom they have to negotiate. The balance is broken," said Andreeva.
