„We entered into negotiations because our voters wanted Bulgaria to have a regular government. GERB had a commitment to form a majority as the first political force. It did so, excluding PP-DB from it. However, I doubt that this is good for Bulgaria”, explained the MP.
This was stated to NOVA NEWS by PP-DB MP Nadezhda Yordanova.
„Assen Vassilev's statement that „Democratic Bulgaria” did not have a mandate to negotiate on behalf of „Continuing Change” is his personal opinion. The parliamentary group's decision was for the Democratic Party to enter the negotiations, and if it agrees to include all the measures from our declaration in a coalition agreement, then the entire PP-DB parliamentary group will support the government," Yordanova pointed out. She emphasized that "Democratic Bulgaria" never had the intention to enter into a government with GERB-SDF on its own.
The former Minister of Justice described Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov as a very eroded person and a great professional. "I understand GERB's efforts to shift the focus from the real problem and dispute and to say that Zhelyazkov was the apple of discord. We wanted a consensus on the agreement and only then to talk about personalities," Yordanova added. According to her, limiting the power of a person or group of people is achieved with real legislative amendments and institutional actions, and not with “naked declarations”.
The PP-DB MP called the appointment of Ivaylo Ivanov as head of the political cabinet of Interior Minister Daniel Mitov “scandalous”. She recalled that he was the Secretary General of the Ministry of Interior during the anti-government protests, where citizens were beaten by the police.
Yordanova did not hide that the amendments to the Judiciary Law were adopted quickly with the constructive participation of GERB-SDF. “They did not delay the procedure”, she pointed out.
