80 years ago, the so-called "People's Court" of communist Bulgaria sentenced about two thousand people to death, including many of the country's political and military leaders. About twenty thousand people were killed without trial or sentence in the turbulent years surrounding the establishment of the Soviet-style dictatorship.
This was published on his Facebook page by academician Nikolay Denkov. Here are more of his words:
Today we recall the historical truth so that young people also know about the horrors of totalitarianism. To be on guard, because there are forces that will want to once again turn Bulgaria into a dictatorship that not only violates human rights, but is ready to take lives in the name of a clique at the top.
Both today and tomorrow, it is important to defend by all legal means the democratic values that keep us away from such tragic events.
Eternal memory to the victims of the criminal communist regime, which is not subject to justification or rewriting of history!
A bow!
