PP: Kiselova to restore the MECH group - 1

„We continue the change“ came out with a position against the decision of the Speaker of the National Assembly Natalia Kiselova to „disband“ the parliamentary group of „Morals, Unity, Honor“ – MECH.

PP deputies point out that Kiselova has applied „the NA rules in an unacceptable manner, without taking into account its spirit and purpose“.

According to the rules for the organization and activities of parliament, the minimum number of MPs to form a parliamentary group is ten.

When entering parliament, MECH had 12 deputies. After the Constitutional Court's decision, which included "Velicie" in the 51st National Assembly, the MECH group was reduced to 11 deputies. Two of them left the parliament, and two others had to take the oath in their place. Since this has not yet technically happened, the MECH group does not have the required 10 sworn-in deputies.

At the same time, deputies who have left a parliamentary group cannot join another or create a new one.

„Regardless of the fact that we defend opposing values and interests, the representatives elected from the MECH party list must be able to represent their voters with all the rights that stem from the rules, regardless of what we or the ruling party think of their political beliefs and goals“, the PP adds.

„We call on Natalia Kiselova to restore the MECH parliamentary group's entry in the register of parliamentary groups in accordance with the spirit of the rules and not to apply procedural tricks to silence the opposition, as has been happening more and more often lately“, the „We continue” also point out the change“.
