The demands of the unions for a widespread increase in wages by 1,500 leva for the next 3 years are extreme and unfulfillable. That is why the transport blockade today is arm-wrenching for the citizens of Sofia.
This is what "Save Sofia" commented on.
Over the last 5 years, wages in the sector have increased dramatically and this cannot continue indefinitely. However, it is undeniable that the system needs modernization and investment and a significant improvement in working conditions.
Therefore, we propose that the available funds be invested aggressively in:
- differentiated wage increases only for scarce professions - drivers and service workers
- new vehicles
- repair of depots and routes and construction of sanitary facilities at the terminal stops
- designation of corridors for public transport

These measures will improve not only working conditions, but also the quality of service, which will attract new passengers and increase revenues in the system.
This requires political courage and dedication, which we did not meet in the mayor and his team. The plan with the measures and solutions is ready and hopefully these protests will make the mayor get more seriously involved with the problems of people and transport.
