The average gross monthly salary for the month of March is 2,556 leva. The number of persons employed under an employment and service relationship at the end of March increased by 1.7%, reaching 2.35 million. This is shown by the preliminary data of the National Statistical Institute (NSI).
In the first quarter of 2025, the average monthly salary was 2,443 leva and increased compared to the fourth quarter of 2024 by 1.2%. The economic activities in which the largest increase was registered are “Financial and insurance activities“ - by 9.0%, “Administrative and support activities“ - by 8.5%, and “Creation and dissemination of information and creative products; telecommunications“ - by 8.2%.
Compared to the same period of the previous year, the average monthly salary in the first quarter of 2025 in the public sector increased by 9.2%, and in the private sector - by 11.8%.
The economic activities with the highest average monthly remuneration of employees under employment and service contracts for the period are: “Creation and dissemination of information and creative products; telecommunications“ - 5,739 leva; “Financial and insurance activities“ - 3,837 leva; “Professional activities and scientific research“ - 3,387 leva.
The lowest paid were employees in “Hotel and restaurant industry“ - 1,514 leva; “Agriculture, forestry and fishing“ - 1,584 leva; “Other activities“ - 1,669 leva.
