In a period of multiple crises, it is very important for institutions to work. This does not mean the stability that GERB talks about, because in their time the institutions were replaced by personal decisions of this or that“.
This was said in “Face to Face“ on bTV by Assoc. Prof. Atanas Slavov from “Democratic Bulgaria“ in response to the words of GERB leader Boyko Borisov this morning.
„Then, when you achieve your most significant national geopolitical goal - membership in the eurozone, to ask for a vote of no confidence in the government - there is no way, the two things simply clash. Before September, the topic of a vote of no confidence, and initiated by us, would have been a counterproductive topic“.
According to him, the PP-D has also clearly expressed its position on the topic of the resignation of Interior Minister Daniel Mitov after the “Yavor“ case with the bill they submitted, according to which every police officer must have a working body camera on him on a daily basis.
„We had submitted this bill to the 49th National Assembly and it was not supported by GERB. That is, we focus on those measures that work on the ground, that protect citizens from police arbitrariness, but which in a sense also protect police officers from provocations and speculation. It will be a test for the ruling majority whether it will support this measure“, said Assoc. Prof. Slavov.
He also commented on the decision of the Constitutional Court, by which the magistrates rejected the request of President Rumen Radev, related to the referendum on the euro.
“The decision of the Constitutional Court confirmed our thesis that the president's request for a referendum is inadmissible. This was a purely political action – an attempt to drive a wedge into the ruling coalition and position himself in the Eurosceptic spectrum. This clears the political terrain to some extent, now even the blind are clear where the president stands. Everything indicates that he will participate in politics in some way, the question is when – "whether before his term ends or after," he said.
