Traycho Traykov with a proposal for the figures from the Soviet Army Monument: They should go to Buzludzha - 1

The figures from the Soviet Army Monument in Sofia are unsuitable for the intended site in the Museum of Totalitarian Art. This is stated in a letter from the regional governor, to which there are opinions from the Ministry of Culture and the National Art Gallery. The letter was sent to the mayor of the capital's district “Sredets“ Traycho Traykov, reports bTV.

The reasons listed in the letter are to avoid crushing the grass and overshadowing the other exhibits, Traykov stated on his Facebook page.

„I am being asked for an opinion and possibly suggestions. We have prepared an opinion in which we propose to consider an option somewhere around the Buzludzha plate. I have not allowed myself to remind you of the desire of some local authorities to shelter the figures, as I am convinced that in these cities there are people who do not share their mayors' enthusiasm for hosting“, the mayor of the "Sredets" district in Sofia also wrote.

The dismantling of the monument began more than a year and a half ago. The figures were removed in 2024, but the pedestal remains until a decision is made about the future of the “Princely Garden”. The metal fences around it remain.
