Daniel Mitov: Protesters against the euro are aiming for provocations towards the police. And then they will get themselves repressed - 1

Law enforcement officers are refraining from harsh actions, but if the provocations continue, we will have to take more serious actions. My suspicion is that the protesters are aiming for this - provocations towards the police. Subsequently, they would exaggerate what happened and get themselves repressed. This will not work, said Minister of Interior Daniel Mitov in Elhovo, BTA reports. His comment is on the protests in the capital against the euro and in defense of the leva.

These parties started very badly at the beginning with the vandalism and hooliganism in front of the building of the European Parliament and the European Commission in the capital and suffered the consequences, the minister added.

He recalled that the topic was subsequently discussed publicly, including during parliamentary control. Everyone has the right to protest, but this does not mean vandalism, breaking, smashing and especially assaulting police officers, Mitov added.

The minister is in Elhovo where, together with the Federal Minister of the Interior of Austria Gerhard Karner, they will attend the opening of the newly built sensor line at the 231 border pyramid and will meet with the Austrian officials included in the “Solidarity“ contingent.
