A motorist was seriously injured in a traffic accident this morning at the entrance to the city of Sofia, the Sofia Directorate of Internal Affairs announced.
The accident occurred around the third kilometer of the "Trakia" motorway in the direction of the capital. The injured motorist was taken to the University Multi-profile Hospital for Active Treatment and Emergency Medicine "N. I. Pirogov", where he is in extremely serious condition.
According to the Sofia Directorate of Internal Affairs, teams of "Traffic Police" were sent to the scene to regulate traffic. As a result of the incident, a large traffic jam has formed, making it difficult to get to the capital.
From the "Road Infrastructure" Agency specified that traffic in the area is carried out only in the active and emergency lanes.
At the moment there is no additional information about the causes of the accident. Law enforcement agencies continue to work on the case.
