The maximum amount of state assistance for fire victims is 1914 leva. This was stated to the Bulgarian National Radio by Anelia Vasileva - Head of the "Social and Family Assistance" Department at the General Directorate "Social Assistance".
She specified that this type of assistance is one-time and is paid once a year. However, if during the year the person has already used their right to this assistance, now if they have suffered from the fires, they will not be able to receive it again, Vasileva explained.
"The state assistance in this case is expressed in the granting of one-time assistance to meet incidental needs. It is regulated in the Regulations for the Implementation of the Social Assistance Act. For this purpose, people must submit an application-declaration to the "Social Assistance" Directorate. Social workers are on the ground in the affected areas. They visit these areas, consult citizens, provide them with applications", Anelia Vasileva pointed out.
According to her, by the end of yesterday, 6 applications-declarations had been submitted in the country. They will be processed as quickly as possible, she assured, specifying that in such situations, extraordinary payments are made so that people can be supported as quickly as possible.
The requirement is that people are registered at their current address in the affected home, and that it is the main one for the family, Vasileva also emphasized.
The state also has other mechanisms to support people affected by disasters, she reminded.
