A technical problem is delaying the arrival of firefighting planes from Sweden. This was stated by the director of the General Directorate of Fire Protection Zahari Vaskov at a briefing of the emergency crisis headquarters for the fires.
They are expected to arrive at 11:30 Bulgarian time.
"We are expecting their help. They are currently in Timisoara. The safety of the pilots is the most important", he said.
The most critical point in the country remains Strumian.
Six helicopters will operate there. "Three are currently working, two are expected to take off at any moment, and one is already flying there", Vaskov also said.
The fires in Haskovo and Yambol regions have been brought under control.
"Thanks to several strategic moves, the fires were brought to the point where the fires there are under control", he announced.
The director of the GDNP emphasized that work is being done to purchase more equipment. "Currently, procedures are underway, which have even been scheduled. These are long processes", he said.
"Spartans" cannot be used to extinguish fires at the moment, informed Zahari Vaskov.
