31-year-old former two-time Olympic biathlon champion Laura Dahlmeier from Germany was found dead after an accident while climbing a mountain in Pakistan, FOCUS reported.
Dahlmeier's manager confirmed the tragic outcome to "Spiegel".
On July 30, search activities were renewed in the northern territory of Pakistan, Gilgit-Baltistan, to find Dahlmeier, who disappeared on July 28.
Three American and one German climbers, as well as two local residents, participated in the operation.
Dahlmeier and her partner were trapped after a rockfall. The incident took place at an altitude of about 5,700 meters in the middle of the day on July 28.
Dahlmeier ended her biathlon career in 2019. She has two Olympic titles from the 2018 Pyeongchang Games and is a seven-time world champion.
Even during her active competitive career, Laura Dahlmeier was seriously interested in mountaineering.
