Kalin Stoyanov: Nikolay Denkov did not give a single lev to the fire department! 170 million leva came from the European Union

Denkov once again made an attempt to oppose employees in the various structures of the Ministry of Internal Affairs

The MP from the DPS-New Beginning and former Minister of Power Kalin Stoyanov sharply criticized and accused the former Prime Minister from the PP-DB academician Nikolay Denkov of lying.

According to Stoyanov, Denkov has blatantly lied that during his government the cabinet allocated 170 million leva for firefighting equipment. The money, according to Stoyanov, came from Europe and Denkov has no merit for the funds.

"Mr. Denkov, yes, last year there were also severe forest fires, but there were no victims (thank God!), as you falsely claimed yesterday morning during your impromptu briefing in the National Assembly. However, I remember how the people of the village of Voden welcomed you when you and Kiril Petkov made an unsuccessful attempt at a PR campaign in the midst of last year's fires. Suggestions and manipulations are unnecessary, especially from a person who has probably only seen fire when lighting candles for his birthday!", Stoyanov said.

"I consider it appropriate to bring more clarity regarding the unprofessional and, above all, misleading speech of the now fortunately former Prime Minister of the Republic of Bulgaria, Nikolay Denkov. The same person yesterday stated to the media that “his government“ had allocated 170 million leva for fire-fighting equipment. He is lying! “His government“ has not allocated anything, the funds are European", Stoyanov was categorical.

Here is the entire position of Kalin Stoyanov:

I consider it appropriate to bring more clarity regarding the unprofessional and, above all, misleading speech of the now fortunately former Prime Minister of the Republic of Bulgaria, Nikolay Denkov. The same person yesterday stated to the media that “his government“ had allocated 170 million leva for firefighting equipment. LIE!!! “His government“ has not allocated anything, the funds are European.

On 16.02.2024, while I held the position of Minister of Interior, the administrative contract for grant aid was signed under the project “Increasing the technical security and capacity of the structural units of the GDPBZN and preparing the population for responding to forest fires“ under the “Environment“ 2021-2027 Program.

The project is financed under Priority 4: “Risk and climate change“, with a budget of nearly 170 million leva. The main activities include:

1. Delivery of specialized firefighting equipment and machinery:

385 specialized vehicles for firefighting and operational activities:

- 120 pickup trucks;

- 128 medium class;

- 37 heavy class;

- 100 passenger cars;

- 67 mobile extinguishing systems;

6000 sets of personal protective equipment;

- 1500 air-breathing apparatus;

- 28 compressor installations;

- 11,000 hoses;

- 6 water tanks.

2. Equipping the six existing GDPBZN centers.

3. Preparing the population for forest fire prevention and response, including training 26,860 people from all over the country, students from 3rd to 12th grade, forest employees, students and others.

The contract has a term of 60 months. The project proposal was submitted in October 2023, while I was Minister of Internal Affairs. One of the conditions for applying under the Program was that public procurements be announced before submitting the project proposal. They were published in the period June - October 2023, again during my time as Minister.

️As far as I know, there are already deliveries under the various public procurements. Mr. Denkov should know that in compliance with the procedures under the Public Procurement Act, the process is cumbersome and lengthy, and the actual delivery takes time. Unless they are conducted the way we all heard it happens in his party, with "agreed percentages", pre-selected companies and rigged competitions. In that case, everything probably happens "faster"...

In addition, Denkov once again made an attempt to oppose employees in the various structures of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. He made an incorrect reference to the 35 high-speed cars purchased during my time for the needs of the “Traffic Police“, which are actually a very small part of the total of 462 cars of various makes and models, about which he tactfully remains silent.

He is also silent about the purchased all-terrain vehicles for the “Border Police“, about the repaired fence on the border and the roads around it, about the new speed cameras, about the blood sample testing devices, about the fire trucks purchased through the Traffic Safety Fund, and many other things that I managed to accomplish despite the aggressive environment in which I had to work from day one!

If it weren't for the hysterical cries of Denkov and his superiors against my remaining as Minister of the Interior, we could already be in the process of acquiring aircraft for firefighting.

Mr. Denkov,

Yes, there were also severe forest fires last year, but there were no victims (thank God!), as you falsely claimed yesterday morning during your impromptu briefing in the National Assembly. However, I remember how the people of the village of Voden welcomed you when you and Kiril Petkov made an unsuccessful attempt at a PR campaign in the midst of last year's fires.

Suggestions and manipulations are unnecessary, especially from a person who has probably only seen fire when lighting candles for his birthday!
