Participants in a protest organized by Todor Batkov arrived at the "Makaza" border crossing, BNR reported. However, the law enforcement officers did not allow them to block the road. A tight police cordon was formed, which did not allow anyone onto the roadway.
The leader of the "Vazrazhdane" party, Kostadin Kostadinov, also arrived at the scene, supporting the protesters and stating:
„The international road from Rudozem to Xanthi has been blocked for - I don't know - 27 years. It was supposed to be opened back in 1998. The agreement between Bulgaria and Greece was signed in 1995, when Pirinski was Minister of Foreign Affairs and signed on the Bulgarian side. I will remind you that even this checkpoint here, where we are right now, was also supposed to be opened at about the same time. It actually opened only 12 years ago."
The movement of cars has not been stopped. The police are regulating traffic and are not allowing roadblocks. The protesters are on the right side of the road and are surrounded by law enforcement officers who are guarding them with a tight cordon.
The protest continues.
