Tension in VMRO, Karakachanov criticized

VMRO Association - "Ivan Mihaylov" sent a position to the media in which it sharply criticized the party leader Krasimir Karakachanov.

In their declaration, they accuse the leader of VMRO of breaking with "the historical ideas and values" of the party.

"Using rhetoric that echoes Russian propaganda in Bulgaria, Karakachanov gradually pushed the Organization into that part of the political spectrum where subjects who have repeatedly proven their loyalty to the Kremlin gravitate. The culmination was Karakachanov's visit to the Russian embassy on the occasion of May 9. VMRO-BND also supported the protest against the euro by the pro-Russian "Vazrazhdane", the organization's position reads.

They accuse Karakachanov of not responding to "provocations from Serbia".

"Every historically literate Bulgarian should be clear that it is Serbia that is the demiurge of the most anti-Bulgarian ideology - Macedonianism - and it is Belgrade, with the help of Russia, that has been imposing this inhumane doctrine in Macedonia for 80 years. Chairman Karakachanov did not take a clear position regarding the Declaration of the UN General Assembly of May 2024, which recognized the massacre committed by the Serbs in Srebrenica in 1995 as genocide. We have not heard any comment on Milorad Dodik's separatist actions in Bosnia, nor on Belgrade's ongoing attempts to secede Northern Kosovo.

Passivity was also present in relation to the RSM, where over the past year the Mickoski regime has been slandering Bulgaria almost daily and treating Serbia with a knee-jerk attitude. If the leader of the VMRO does not condemn all these actions, then who else should?", ask the members of the association.

The position also criticizes the organizational activities in the party, accusing the leader of "ruin".

"The obvious turn to the east in Karakachanov's rhetoric is complemented by the prevailing ruin in the party. The organizational councils are not convened with the frequency stipulated in the statute, and the Executive Committee meets only once every 2-3 months. "Over 90% of the structures on the ground are in practice non-functional and exist only on paper. This formal existence of hollow structures has been one of the factors used by Karakachanov for years to win Congresses. Members and activists are less and less involved in traditional events for the Organization, which in the past gathered thousands of people under the red-black flags," the position further reads.
