Ivaylo Mirchev: Peevski has no allies, only hostages - 1

"There is a whole bunch of Russian properties in the country, for which it is not clear how they were acquired and why they are owned by the Russian state. After a series of our signals, the state and the services are doing absolutely nothing".

This was stated to the Bulgarian National Radio by PP-DB MP Ivaylo Mirchev.

The case with the Russian property of the Russian embassy at the Iskar dam became known in 2022, he pointed out and also reminded of the case with the "Kamchia" complex. According to him, there is no explanation or documents for the property at the Iskar dam. The only thing that is known is that the Russian side wanted to activate it at a certain point and take possession, the MP noted and made an analogy with the "Kamchia" case.

In Bulgarian counterintelligence, the level of penetration of the Russian state and the level of influence is so high that in practice it does not work against Russian interests in Bulgaria, but rather works for them, Mirchev summarized. According to him, a series of investigations related to Russia are being stopped. According to him, the signals about Kamchia and the Iskar dam are only a very small part of what is being done "to protect Russian influence in Bulgaria".

"It is not about incompetence and sloppiness, but about an order from above - not to work on signals related to Russia. When the services want to work, they can find a way to work," he commented and continued:

"We have information about how it reacts when a signal related to Russian influence arrives at SANS and how it is brushed aside. People who have a stake in combating Russian influence in Bulgaria are pushed out. SANS itself is controlled by Peevski and people associated with him and by the fear of corresponding reactions from Russia and the search for certain balances".

According to him, Peevski does not make anti-Russian statements, but rather seeks balances:

"SANS is currently entirely under the control of Peevski, to a much lesser extent of Borisov. SANS does not work, protecting the Bulgarian national interest. There are no steps to combat Russian influence and propaganda - this is visible at all levels.

DANS is not doing its job at any level, Ivaylo Mirchev is categorical in an interview for the program "Predi visi".

Although Russia has declared Bulgaria an enemy state, DANS, instead of taking measures in this regard, rather serves the Russian state, he believes. According to him, all their signals in this direction are crushed and no work is done on them.

We are telling the public the real situation, the PP-DB MP pointed out and added: "We cannot be angry, but we must ask ourselves how we got here".

"Boris's direction is determined entirely by Peevski and Borisov's jealousy that he is not prime minister. Peevski has no ideology and program. He wants to eat as much as possible with Borisov's consent. He is seizing significant pieces of local government".

The seizing of the state is currently through local government, said Mirchev and expressed his opinion:

"Borisov accepts this with fear, but he cannot stop it. This is the price of Peevski's votes. Borisov himself and GERB are left without a face. Borisov's view of politics is now based much more on his fear of Peevski than on any long-term vision, which is a fundamental problem of political life. Peevski has no allies, he only has hostages".

In his words, what can separate the two is a functioning judicial system in Bulgaria. In September, we will propose our plan to resist these two bodies that have taken over all institutions, he declared.

"We will present this plan and I hope we will receive public support to make the country work again".

We live in a country that is currently the least wealthy in the EU. The only reason is that it has not fully built its democracy, the MP believes.

For him, the behavior of the Speaker of the Parliament Natalia Kiselova is unacceptable. At the moment, her resignation cannot happen because she has Peevski's support, he believes. And explained the case:

"In the last minutes of the last session of the National Assembly, when checking the quorum, Ms. Kiselova made drastic procedural violations, literally running from her office to get to the chairman's seat, in order to prevent the quorum check, which led to shameful changes in the laws, also concerning over 4,000 properties that the government is selling. Kiselova herself should be ashamed of what she did. From now on, this will become her trademark. /.../ If I were her, I would have resigned a long time ago. The issue concerns trust in the National Assembly and its chairman".

Ivaylo Mirchev does not believe that both Borisov and Peevski are looking to the West. These are situational players, he emphasized and added that he is pessimistic about the interactions on the East-West axis.

Regarding the vote in September, the PP-DB had meetings with MECH and APS, but there will be no talks with "Vazrazhdane" and "Velicie".

"This government will fall not when Borisov wants it, but when Peevski wants it. All ministers, almost without exception, are equal to what Peevski says. Our actions with the vote of no confidence show a political position and will, but this will not be the factor for overthrowing the government."

According to him, the biggest destabilizing factor for the process of our entry into the eurozone is this government. In his words, with everything that has been adopted, business is being put under enormous pressure. They sound good to the public, but they don't work, Mirchev was categorical.
