The fire in Harmanliysko continues. Today it entered a new front - on the territory of the municipality of Lyubimets, in the direction of the village of Yerusalimovo, despite the work of two firefighting aircraft from Sweden and a military helicopter "Cougar", announced the regional governor Stefka Zdravkova.

The Mayor of Lyubimets Anastas Anastasov declared a partial state of emergency for Yerusalimovo.

The "Maritsa" highway is closed to traffic between km 65 and 84 in the section between Harmanli and Lyubimets due to the ongoing fire in the area, announced the Regional Administration in Haskovo.

The "Maritsa" highway has also been closed for eight hours between the road junctions "Harmanli" and "Lyubimets" due to the fire that "came down" to the highway and spread it in several places. The traffic is very intense, but the organization created for detouring the old road between Harmanli and Lyubimets is perfect, commented Zdravkova, quoted by BTA.

When asked, she replied that there is no danger to the village of Yerusalimovo and for now there is no need to activate the BG-Alert system for a possible evacuation, assuring that she is currently on site and monitoring the development of the situation.

At 7:30 p.m., the Regional Administration announced that the opening of the highway is being considered at any moment.

The fire in the lands of the Harmanli villages of Dositeevo, Izvorovo and Kolarovo on the western slopes of Sakar Mountain broke out in the Radinchevo protected area on Monday around 3:00 p.m.

Due to the spread of the fire, the Harmanli Municipality introduced a partial state of emergency for the area yesterday. At 5:29 p.m. yesterday, the regional governor Zdravkova activated the BG-Alert system with a warning of a possible evacuation of the residents of the village of Dositeevo. The affected areas by yesterday afternoon were about 20,000 decares, and seven fire trucks were deployed on the outskirts of the village to intercept the approaching fire, and aerial equipment was also involved, due to which the situation this morning was calmer than last night.

Today, the affected areas - forest, dry grass and bushes - are already about 30,000 decares, Zdravkova also said.
