A fire broke out in the Shumen Plateau in the Fatmedzhika region, the Shumen Plateau Nature Park reported.
The alarm was raised by eyewitnesses who saw children throwing pirates and then fleeing the scene, dariknews.bg reported.
The fire has already been brought under control, but extinguishing it was difficult due to the rugged terrain and dry pine trees.
Firefighters from Shumen, Novi Pazar and Veliki Preslav, employees of the forestry structures, the Shumen Plateau State Forest Reserve and volunteers participated in the operation.
The fire threatened the power grid in the area. Due to the spread of flames around electric poles, power supply in the nearby neighborhood was cut off.
The damage from the fire is yet to be determined. The Shumen Plateau Nature Park calls on parents to talk to their children about the dangers of such games.
Since the beginning of the year, teams of the Regional Directorate for Fire Safety and Population Protection (RDPBZN) - Shumen have extinguished 325 field and forest fires, including in dry grass, stubble, fallen leaves and waste.
