40 people from the Nursing Home in the village of Slavyantsi have been evacuated, the Municipality of Sungurlare announced. The mayor of the town, Eng. Dimitar Gavazov, said that the road to the village of Slavyantsi is expected to be closed due to low visibility.
By order of the mayor of the municipality of Sungurlare, a state of emergency has been declared in the town, as well as in the villages of Beronovo, Skala, Slavyantsi and for the settlement of Balabanchevo.
„All the municipality's firefighting equipment is currently on the ground. Forestry employees in Carbonat are also participating, but the fire can no longer be extinguished by human power,” said Gavazov.
According to him, the fire has covered an area of about 2700 acres. There is still no danger to the residents of the village of Slavyantsi, but the situation is dynamic and is being monitored. The mayor has convened the crisis headquarters and decisions are being made based on the dynamics, the situation and the direction of the wind.
Two wineries in the area of the fire have been saved from the flames.
