The battle with the fire continues on the fourth day by land and air, including with two Swedish planes and one "Black Hawk" helicopter from the base in Novo Selo.
11 fire engines remained on the scene throughout the night. The teams waited for the dark part of the day, when the wind dies down, to get closer to the source of the fire. Yesterday afternoon, it flared up most strongly between the villages of Beronovo and Skala, but remained far from houses and did not pose a danger to people.
The readiness for evacuation remains if necessary, as does the declared state of emergency for Sungurlare and the villages of Beronovo, Slavyantsi, Skala and Balabanchevo.
„Until 2 a.m. last night we were in the forest, trying to stop the spread of the fire to the settlements. Unfortunately, the outbreaks are still active. We cannot say that the fire has been localized. At the moment, there is no danger to the settlements. One outbreak is in the direction of the village of Beronovo, the other towards the village of Skala“.
This is what he said on the show „This Morning“ Eng. Dimitar Gavazov, Mayor of Sungurlare.
“I have been working in the forest system in this region for 15 years, I don't remember there being such a fire on such a large scale“, the mayor also pointed out.
According to him, one helicopter from Novo Selo and two Swedish planes are expected to be involved today.
