The large forest fire near Kardzhali, which threatened three villages, has been localized. About 500 acres of mixed forest and low vegetation have burned, BNT reported.
There are still active outbreaks and extinguishing there is currently ongoing. Clearings are also being made with tracked vehicles to limit the perimeter of the fire, regional governor Nikola Chanev announced. The fire is expected to be completely under control by the end of the day.
The hours around noon are indicated as a risk period, when strong winds are expected in the area, according to forecasts.
There is no longer any direct danger to the residents of the nearby villages of Dazhdovnitsa, Ridovo and Snezhinkite. The mayor of Dazhdovnitsa, Gulhayat Kerim, specified that people remained in their homes, despite yesterday's recommendation by firefighters to leave them.
