The District Prosecutor's Office in Nessebar has charged the 18-year-old young man who on Thursday ran over five pedestrians on a sidewalk in “Sunny Beach” with a four-wheeled vehicle. The charge is for causing moderate bodily harm to more than one person. The young man has also been ordered to be held in custody for 72 hours. Five people, including three children, are in hospital. The prosecutor's request for permanent arrest is expected to be considered in the early afternoon today.
“Yesterday the doctor told us: “I cannot give you hope and I cannot take it away”. My daughter-in-law and her child have fractured skulls. She also has cerebrospinal fluid around her mouth. The child has brain hemorrhages. They are currently being kept in an induced coma. They told us we have to wait some more time,” said Julian Zdravkov, a relative of the victims.
According to him, an adequate sentence will not be imposed on the driver, whose parents are police officers. He called on the Minister of Internal Affairs to also launch an investigation into the case.
